What CAT really tests??

CAT is designed not to test how well you can do all those maths sums or how well you can read and comprehend the shakespear play. That will be checked in your school and board exams.

CAT tests you and following three section:
-Quantitative aptitude.
-Data interpretation (Data handling) and Logical reasoning.
-Verbal ability.

There is a myth that quantitative aptitude means maths and verbal ability means English. Fact is maths us instrumental in determining your quantitative aptitude. So its not the test of maths. It is the test of how well you can think under tremendous time pressure and deal with some arduous questions. Same goes for English and verbal ability.

In DI and LR they test you at your logical skills and also at your data interpretation skills. Data would be given to you is any form...be it a table or graph or pie chart or whatever....how well you can analyse it is the main aim behind this section.

Thats it for today!!! Have a nice day!!!
